The Surprise Shop Consignment Policy - Revised October, 2008

  1. Consignment articles are accepted from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.  Also from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month except July, August and December.

  2. Consignment appointments can be made Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at 410-828-9343 beginning Nov. 1, 2008.  You must make an appointment to consign.

  3. Each Consignor may consign only one contract per month consisting of 20 acceptable items.  Please have your 20 items ready when you come for your appointment.  Estate liquidation will be handled separately.  Please call the Shop for an appointment.

  4. Pricing, acceptance or rejection of any article shall be at the sole discretion of the volunteer worker(s).

  5. Articles may be reclaimed by the Consignor on or before the expiration of the contract, which is 6 weeks from the date of contract.  ONCE THE CONTRACT EXPIRES, THE ARTICLES BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE SURPRISE SHOP.  Tags for withdrawn items must be checked by a shop volunteer against the contract.

  6. All articles of clothing must be clean, seasonal, unwrinkled, undamaged, on hangers or laid flat.  Clothing must be in great condition, freshly laundered and wrinkle and odor free.  Household goods must be clean and in working condition.

  7. Health regulations do not permit the acceptance of used bathing suits or underwear.  New underwear and bras are accepted only in the original package with original price tags or on hangers with original price tags attached.  Infant equipment (crib bumpers, potties, strollers, sippy cups, etc.) is not accepted.

  8. Nothing can be re-consigned.

  9. Checks for merchandise sold will be mailed to the Consignor on the 1st or 15th of the month after expiration of the contract.  Checks will be void after 60 days.

  10. Everything is left at the Consignor’s risk.  THE SURPRISE SHOP IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSSES DUE TO FIRE, THEFT OR DAMAGE.

  11. The limit of quantities of specific items is posted behind the consignment tables.  At times, it may be necessary to cancel or otherwise limit the acceptance of specific items due to overstocking.

  12. A list of unacceptable items will always be posted in the consignment room.

  13. Nothing consigned under $2.00 will be accepted.
